Bands
By the end of Level 1, students should be able to write multi-paragraph texts (100-200 words) at HCT Writing Band 5.5 with a topic sentence, body and conclusion where necessary.
At the end of Level 2, students should be writing at HCT Writing Band Level 6.

Level 1 used (2003-4) to have writing topics about describing a place or a person, but this is no longer required.
