Omar Ahmed Abdulraham Al Saqqaf Bani Hashim
Forty years ago divorce was rare and looked upon as a shameful act. Nowadays, the divorce rate among UAE nationals is around 33 percent. This essay will examine the causes of this serious problem and will outline its effects.
Divorce is the result of several factors. One of them is the lack of knowledge that many couples have about marital life and spousal obligations, which leads to many problems between them. Another important reason is that development of the UAE happened so quickly, and that gave Emiratis new ideas and new dreams, some of them might disagree with their traditions. One of the most obvious causes is that many couples don't try to solve their problems. If there is a little misunderstanding they don't sit and discuss it, they get divorced.
However, divorce has some huge effects in the UAE society. A lot of divorced women don't get married again, because men prefer marrying women who have never been married. Divorce also affects the children. They grow in unsuitable environment, which may lead them having social problems. It also leads to some financial problems. Husbands have to pay a huge amount of money to their divorced wives who also have to depend on themselves.
In conclusion, divorce rates have increased over the last 30 years. The government is trying to stop this problem from becoming worse by doing some campaigns, and this has some good results for the society.
