Overview
"We are embarking upon a new wave of teaching and learning methodologies. We now need to articulate our priorities and develop more effective assessment and learning strategies to which technology can contribute. More than ever before, e-Learning is becoming a viable alternative, yet we need to keep a watchful eye on quality issues, remembering that open discussion and human interaction are also integral components of the educational development process."
Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan
Chancellor, Higher Colleges of Technology
The e-Merging e-Learning Conference series began in September 2002 and has been held on an annual basis since that time. An event not to be missed; this conference brings international experts in e-Learning and the latest and most innovative technology for teaching and learning to the region.
The over-arching theme for this year is Technology Enhanced Learning, and it aims to bring together world-class experts in academia, industry, and government to focus on the theme of enhancing quality in education through the use of technology. The goal of this year's conference is to focus on current trends in e-Learning and to create a dialogue on the use of technology within our schools and Higher Education Institutions. This will involve examining the role and effectiveness of appropriate technology use and implementation from Primary – Intermediate – Secondary – Undergraduate – Graduate studies right up to Professional Development Training. What technology should be used and what strategies need to be followed for tomorrow's generation today?
This premier event is an ideal meeting place and brainstorming forum for university and college presidents, academic deans and faculty members, Ministry of Education leadership and administrators, school principals, teachers and educational technology leaders, corporate managers and heads of training and development and government officials.
